Lucas Huang and Aidan Schutter both won a pair of games for the Blues (3-6, 2-0 NWC) on the same day. They teamed up to win at second doubles and then won critical matches at singles.
The Blues needed a rally in singles play after dropping two doubles matches. Whitman was left behind in pairs Diego Guzman and Noah Bakerand Charles Rush and Artem Manov lost on courts No. 1 and No. 2. Huang and Schutter looked to avoid a sweep and combined to beat the Pioneer tandem of Matt Chio and Kai Wills 8-5 to save the doubles point.
With quick wins by Huang and Baker to open the singles match, the Blues took their first lead of the match. The next match ended for Lewis & Clark when Kristian Peev crossed Hard Vardhan Chopra with two tiebreak wins to level the match. Schutter then broke the tie as he came out on top in a 1-6, 6-4, 6-4 triple over Alberto Dos Santos.
The fighter of the match came on court No. 5, when Alejandro Raffo swept Wade McDermott 6-1, 6-4 to give Whitman the win.
The Blues have a quick turnaround when they host Linfield on Sunday at 8:00 a.m. before heading to Southern California for a series of games.
