Aaron Rodgers attends a charity ticket football game as the NY Jets await a decision

Aaron Rodgers is still deciding if he wants to play football with the NY Jets in 2023. Even if he decides, he played football elsewhere.

Rodgers was spotted Saturday morning in Orange Country, where he and several NFL quarterbacks including Josh Allen, Jared Goff and Sam Darnold participated in a charity ticket football game.

The event was hosted by RX3 Growth Partnersa venture capital firm that Rodgers helped found in 2018. Other participants included Desmond Ridder, Kyle Allen, Will Levis and UCLA quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

With less than two days until the unofficial start of free agency on Monday, both the Jets and Packers are anxiously awaiting Rodgers’ decision, but the future Hall of Fame quarterback apparently decided to take a break from those talks.

The wait is practically over for the Jets. They’ve been waiting for Rodgers’ answer since January, and with Monday’s soft deadline for the legal tampering season approaching, they need one.

The same goes for the Packers, who would like to know the financial implications of Rodgers’ decision before free agency begins. Retirement and trade have very different tangible impacts on Green Bay’s cap situation.

Rodgers himself will benefit from making a decision as soon as possible, because if he were to choose the Jets, he could definitely help recruit new players to join him at Florham Park.

Unfortunately, Rodgers appears to be in no rush to make a decision. This is the 39-year-old QB’s first public appearance since he was spotted meeting with the Jets last week.

Perhaps throwing a football for charity, as he did on Saturday, will help rekindle Rodgers’ passion for the game. Perhaps it sparks a competitive edge that he may have lost touch this offseason.

Or, more likely, it has nothing to do with his decision.
