Hockey Canada announced the roster for the 2023 Men’s Under-18 World Cup

Hockey Canada has released its roster for the 2023 Men’s Under-18 World Championship.

The roster features 22 players (three goaltenders, seven defensemen and 12 forwards), eight of whom won gold for Canada at the 2022 Hlinka Gretzky Cup last summer.

Canada wants to recover after losing to Finland 6-5 in the quarterfinals of last year’s World Cup. Three players are returning from the team: Tanner Howe, Matthew Wood and Lukas Dragicevic.

Jeff Truitt of the Western Hockey League’s Prince Albert Raiders serves as the team’s head coach, while John Dean of the Ontario Hockey League’s Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds and Bruce Richardson serve as assistants to the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Justin Pogge, a 2004 draft pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs who starred for Canada at the 2006 World Junior Championships in Vancouver, is the team’s goaltending consultant.

The under-18 tournament will be held on the 20th-30th. April in Basel and Porrentruy, Switzerland.
