Andrew Wiggins has been out of action with the Warriors since mid-February while dealing with undisclosed family matters.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) Andrew Wiggins showed few signs of rust in his first game in more than two months since leaving the team to deal with an undisclosed family matter.

Wiggins came off the bench after starting his first 657 NBA games and made an immediate impact. His first shot attempt was blocked, but he rushed back to his own block at the defensive end.

Wiggins scored 17 points, three rebounds, one assist and four blocks in 28 minutes. The only thing missing from his game was his outside shot as he was 1-8 from deep, including a corner 3 lead in the final seconds.

Wiggs was great, head coach Steve Kerr said after the game. “So great to have him back. In the first half he was incredible. In the second half he dipped a bit but that was to be expected.

Andrew Wiggins showed some signs of rust in his first game in more than 2 months since leaving the team to attend to family matters.

The Warriors supported Wiggins during this long absence and are excited to have him back as a key player in the postseason.

Wiggins played a big role in Golden State’s championship run last season, averaging 16.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game in the playoffs, while playing a key role as a defender.

He signed a four-year contract extension in October to be a long-term fit with the Warriors, but played just 37 games all season. He missed three because of left leg soreness, another 10 games because of a strained adductor in his right thigh, seven games because of a non-COVID illness, and then the last 25 games because of family issues.

He averaged 17.1 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists in the regular season.
