The softball season ends on senior day

PROVIDENCE, RI Brown softball’s season ended with a 2-0 loss to Yale in the final game of the season on Saturday.

The Bears celebrated their six seniors before the game, honoring their contributions Julia Gubner, Erin Elgas, Nicole Kim, Jadey Hagiwara, Meghan Gormley and Lauren tall.

Alexis Guevara allowed just two runs, scattering eight hits and striking out five batters, but the Bears couldn’t figure out Yale starter Nicole Conway. Brown finished the game with three hits with two walks and one strikeout.

Yale scored its first run in the top of the first inning and the Bears looked like they were ready to answer Jasmine Hsiao doubled in the bottom of the inning. After moving to third on a strikeout, Hsiao tried to score on a wild pitch, but was hit by a hit that ended Brown’s threat.

Brown left two runners on in the second inning Moe Kastens and walk by Lily Berlinger but two strikeouts ended the inning.

Dara England walked in the third and Julia Gubner finished fourth, but Conway kept the Bears off the board.

Yale doubled their lead in the fifth and Brown managed just one more base run. Kastens got hit in the sixth with the rest of the game.
