It’s a pivotal day for Manchester United’s future, with the club’s bid deadline approaching at 10 p.m.
And while manager Erik ten Hag has reason to be angry after his side squandered a 2-0 lead at Spurs last night, he could at least praise the bravery of captain Bruno Fernandes. Despite being in the boot last week, he recovered to start the game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
“It was difficult, so it’s a big compliment to Bruno,” said Ten Hag. “He really didn’t want to miss this game and he did everything to get fit. I think he’s an example that you have to suffer, you have to sacrifice when you want to play at the top level, when you want to achieve something.
“So he showed once again what a great captain he is. How he’s taken responsibility even when he’s not 100 percent fit. But he did the job and was also important in the game. Hopefully the rest of the team can – not learn – but see him as an inspiration as a source and do the same.”
