TEENAGE sensation Tinotenda Fambira was crowned Old Mutual Table Tennis Zimbabwe Open Champion on Sunday.
He defeated defending champion Vikram Singh 3-2 in a thrilling final.
Singh, a five-time champion, went into the tournament as the favorite but was beaten by the 19-year-old.
Fambira trailed Singh for most of the five-set thriller but eventually broke his more experienced opponent in the decisive fifth set to claim the Zimbabwe Open title.
“I didn’t expect to win this tournament. It’s a very pleasant surprise,” Fambira said.
“It was a good match and I think I played some of my best table tennis here,” he said.
