Young talents are finally seeing the field

The Ohio State football program continues to recruit at an elite level every year. They are usually in the top five when the recruiting lists are finished. When you recruit that well, you will succeed on the field. That must have been true.

Still, the Buckeyes have some really talented players they’ve recruited over the last couple of years who haven’t gotten a ton of snaps yet. They were five-star recruits who fell behind some other great players, so they haven’t made a full impact yet.

That will change this year. Several really good players will see a lot of playing time. We already talked about how the Ohio State football team plans to unleash CJ Hicks. Sonny Styles will also see a lot on the court. Both defensive backs were five-star recruits.

On offense, Carson Hinzman appears poised to win the starting center spot. He was a four-star recruit in the 2022 class. He is someone with a lot of talent and should be a starter on the offensive line for at least the next two years, maybe three.

All of these players were elite recruits coming out of college and should help the Buckeyes this year after finally getting in line for real playing time. I think all three players are good enough to make a big impact right away.

Ohio State will continue to recruit at an elite level as long as they have Ryan Day, Brian Hartline and Larry Johnson on staff. All three have proven recruiting pedigrees and have shown they can develop the elite talent they bring. I can’t wait to see what these players can do with significant snaps.
