The Philadelphia Flyers hired a former three-time Stanley Cup winner in their front office. As reported by Daniel Briere, Patrick Sharp is the new special advisor for hockey operations.
“Patrick is an established veteran on and off the ice, and his unparalleled hockey knowledge will be a valuable asset to our organization.”
Sharp returns to the Flyers, the team that drafted him in the third round of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
In the year 2005 Sharp was traded from Philadelphia to Chicago along with Eric Meloche for Matt Ellison and a third-round pick in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, which became Ryan White. With the Blackhawks, Sharp participated in three Stanley Cup championships. He had a very successful 15 year career, 620 points (287G, 333A) in 939 games. In the postseason, Sharp added another 87 points (47G, 40A) in 142 games.
Reporting to Briere, Sharp will be involved in all aspects of hockey operations, but will focus strongly on developing future prospects.

Before joining the Blackhawks, Sharp won a Calder Cup with the Philadelphia Phantoms of the AHL at the time. In addition, Sharp won a gold medal for Canada at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. Sharp retired in 2018, spending time as an NBC broadcaster and coaching advisor at his alma mater, the University of Vermont.
