Anderson tabbed ABCA/Rawlings second-team All-American

Nebraska junior Max Anderson pulled off his fourth second-team All-America honor this month when the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings released its All-America team on Friday.

Friday’s recognition comes after Anderson was recognized as a second-team All-American by Collegiate Baseball, Perfect Game and the NCBWA earlier this month. The Omaha native was also named the NCBWA District 6 Player of the Year, becoming the first Husker to earn the honor since Luke Gorsett in 2006.

A Golden Spikes Award semifinalist, Anderson earned unanimous first-team All-Big Ten honors after hitting .414 with 20 doubles, two triples, 21 home runs, 70 RBIs and 51 runs scored.

The junior became the first player in the country to reach 100 hits and finished the season with 101 hits, the sixth-most by a Husker in a single season in program history. Anderson is the first Husker to finish a season over .400 since John Cole’s .418 batting average in 2001.

Anderson became the first Big Ten player to hit 15 home runs in a conference season on a traditional schedule. Entering the 2023 campaign, Anderson finished fourth on the single-season list in program history with 188 total RBIs and tied for fifth with 21 home runs and 43 RBIs.
