Vigil was held responsible for the separation of the injured teenager’s football in the collision

RAVENSWOOD, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A vigil was held Friday night to pray for the recovery of soccer teenager Jaden Sayre. On June 2, he was seriously injured in a hit-and-run incident.

A crowd gathered at Riverfront Park in Ravenswood to honor Jadens.

Jaden died after being hit by a car, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

Jala Sayre, Jaden’s sister, attended the vigil. She says it’s incredibly moving to see so many people supporting Jaden and their family.

She says Jaden has been sitting, talking and laughing, but he still has a long way to go.

I never saw him down and I couldn’t be up, he said. It’s just awful. I hate seeing him like this.

Dezirae Coyer was arrested Wednesday and charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing serious bodily injury. He is accused of driving 15 miles past the crash site before being pulled over.

I couldn’t imagine how someone could leave someone like that, Jala said. That’s crazy to me. Karma gets him.

A woman is accused of hitting a seriously injured teenager

Jaden was a standout football player at Ravenswood and was set to play at Hocking College this fall in Nelsonville, Ohio.

Donations collected at Friday night’s service will go to the family. Jala says she believes in a full recovery.

He will definitely be back to normal, Jala said. He intends to strive. This does not let him down.

On Thursday night, Jaden’s benefit was held at the Ravenswood City Pool. It raised over $1,500.

Jala says her brother will be transferred from CAMC to the Parkersburg Rehabilitation Center in a few days.
