Liberty Field Hockey Unveils Fall 2023 Schedule – Liberty Flames

BIG EAST champion Liberty has revealed its fall 2023 field hockey schedule.

The Lady Flames play 17 regular season contests and a seven game BIG EAST Conference regular season. Liberty, starting its eighth year in the league, won its second BIG EAST title in a row in the fall of 2022.

Liberty will play a pair of home games against Wake Forest (Aug. 14) and Appalachian State (Aug. 18) before the regular season begins. The Lady Flames 2023 schedule includes games against seven teams ranked in the top 25 in the nation in the final Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll.

The Libertys’ season opener is against Kent State on the 25th. August at Liberty Field Hockey Field, followed by another home game against Indiana two days later (August 27).

Lady Flames games against top 25 teams last season include: No. 1 North Carolina (road, Oct. 8), No. 5 Virginia (road, Aug. 29), No. 14 Old Dominion (home, Sept.). 15, BIG EAST opener), No. 15 Connecticut (home, Oct. 20), No. 16 Harvard (home, Sept. 8), No. 22 James Madison (home, Oct. 15) and No. 23 Temple (road), 29 September).

The Libertys other home games are against American (Sept. 3), Providence (Sept. 22) and Villanova (Oct. 6). The Lady Flames five other road contests are Duke (Sept. 10), William & Mary (Sept. 17), Longwood (Sept. 24), Quinnipiac (Oct. 13) and Georgetown (Oct. 27).

The 2023 BIG EAST Field Hockey Championship tournament will be held on the 3rd-5th. Nov. at Temple, with the winner receiving an automatic bid to the 2023 NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship.

Liberty has competed in the NCAA Field Hockey Championship four times in program history (2013, 2014, Fall 2021 and 2022).

The Lady Flames finished the 2022 campaign with a 12-8 overall record and a 6-1 BIG EAST mark. Liberty won the top seed and hosted Old Dominion in last year’s BIG EAST Tournament final. The Lady Flames finished the season ranked 13th in the nation and were 20th in the final NCAA Field Hockey RPI.
