Indian Asian Youth Table Tennis Team Announced

India’s 14-member table tennis team was on Tuesday selected to represent the country at the 27th Asian Youth Table Tennis Championships to be held in Doha from July 17 to 22.

There are seven boys and seven girls in the team.

The under-19 and under-15 teams were selected by the selectors based on their positions in the boys’ and girls’ divisions. Three coaches and two support staff will accompany the team members and leave for Qatar on July 16.

The Doha Championships are a qualifying event for the 2023 ITTF World Junior Championships in Nova Garcia, Slovenia and will be held from 23 November to 3 December.

While the continental winners of the U-19 and U-15 boys and girls will qualify directly for the championships in Slovenia, the Indians can hope to secure one of the six spots in each section, in the individual 20. places and doubles in combined world ranking points.

Indian players had qualified for the Tunisia series last year, where singles, doubles and team events were played.

India’s Under-19 boys finished with bronze medals at the final Asian Juniors in Laos to qualify for the Doha Championships, while the girls finished first at the Regional Youth Championships, a Doha qualifying event held in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh. in May.
