Forward Noah Cates and the Philadelphia Flyers have agreed to a new contract, the team announced Monday.
Cates’ contract is for $5.25 million over two years. The deal means Cates will avoid arbitration.
The new contract more than doubles Cates’ salary. His entry-level contract, signed in March 2022, was for two years and $2.275 million.
Cates, 24, is a valuable player for the Flyers. The forward played all 82 matches last season. He scored a goal 13 goals and 25 assists 38 points and was plus-3. He moved from his natural wing position to log time in the middle.
He had 107 shots on net and 86 saves as a strong, two-way player.
The Flyers selected Cates in the fifth round of the 2017 draft, 137th overall.
