Capitals of Louisiana the new pro hockey team will be named the Baton Rouge Zydeco, paying homage to the states Cajun and zydeco musical heritage.
Mayor Sharon Weston Broome and Baton Rouge Pro Hockey announced the team names at an event Thursday after months of discussions and hints.
Zydeco opens its season at the Raising Canes River Center on Oct. 26 against the Columbus River Dragons and runs through mid-April. During the carnival season, the Baton Rouge team plays most of its games on the road. Read more about the team from the previous postDaily report.
