All eyes in the state of Alabama turned to Massachusetts when Bill Belichick drafted the former Crimson Tide QB for the Mac Jones Patriots alongside Auburn football legend Cam Newton, and it looks like the quarterback has progressed to the start of the season.
Jones recently made headlines with his first official photos as a Patriot, but this time QB is in the news about the nickname Newton gave him. Mike Reiss tells that Cam Newton, known for sharing nicknames with his teammates, has given Jones the name “Mac and Cheese.”
Mac Jones is just the latest Newton teammate to be nicknamed Reiss. Newton is known to have more than 30 teammates, including Stiddy (Jarrett Stidham), Doughboy (N’Keal Harry) and Gun Show (Gunner Olszewski).

You’ll certainly think this is the least creative nickname that Cam Newton could have come up with, and football fans quickly pointed out on Twitter. While some fans were angry and called the nickname “petty”, others quickly made their suggestions for Jones’s nickname:
Wow! How did he invent it? What’s the Mac’s Camn name? Fig Newton?

Mac Jones was the Patriots ’first choice in the 2021 NFL Draft and joined two former Auburn football defenders in New England. While Newton is a predicted starter, many Pats fans are hoping Jones will step on the field this season.
