ELON, NC Elon University’s women’s tennis earned the top ten in the Carolina region, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced on Wednesday, June 9th.
“I am really proud of our team for this year’s strong work and for being among the top ten in our region,” head coach Elizabeth Anderson stated. “We have a very competitive area, and it is an honor to be recognized.”
Phoenix rounded off the season 2020-21 with an overall score of 17-5 and advanced to the semifinals of the CAA tournament. Throughout the season, Elon collected top wins from several CAA opponents at Towson, UNCW, Charleston, and William & Mary. For the first time in program history, Phoenix defeated the tribe in a duel. Individual four Phoenix earned All-CAA honors in Lizette Reding (Newcomer of the Year; Second Team All-CAA; Third Team All-CAA Doubles), Sibel Tanik (First Team All-CAA), Victoria Saldh (Third Team All-CAA) and Alison O’Dea (Third team, all CAA singles).
The ITA regional ranking list includes the top 10 teams, the top 20 singles and the top 10 singles in each region. The full list of this year’s top 10 teams in the Carolina area is below.
