Baton Rouge, La. The LSU athletics team had 18 athletes earned their first-team All-America honors last week at the NCAA Championships, announced by the U.S. Athletics Association. To earn the first team ratings, the athlete had to end up in the top eight of his event.
The LSU men led the nation with 15 First Team All-America honors, while the women garnered eight First Team honors.
Terrance Laird received three first-team All-America medals in the 100, 200, and 4×100-meter posts. The athletes who received the first All-America medals on the first team were JuVaughn Harrison (high jump / far), Noah Williams (400 meters / 4x100m relay) and The popularity of Ofili (200 meters / 4x100m relay).
Lisa Gunnarsson (pole vault), Sean ‘Squirrel’ Burrell (400m hurdles), Sean Dixon-Bodie (triple jump), Rayvon Gray (long jump), Akanni Hislop (4x100m relay), Jon Nerdal (hammer throw), Tzuriel Pedigo (javelin), Dylan Peebles (4x100m relay), Damion Thomas (110m hurdles), Thelma Davies (4x100m relay), Tonea Marshall (4x100m relay), Symone Mason (4x100m relay), Abigail O’Donoghue (high jump), and Milan Young (400m hurdles) were the rest of the Americans on LSU’s first team.
