With three teams in the Vitality Blast South group already four points blank, both Middlesex and Gloucestershire are hoping they too can separate themselves from the bottom of the table by beating Radlett.
Gloucestershire comes into the match by taking a second loss to Kent Spitfires. Supporters of The Shire aren’t too worried, as one win in three opening games is exactly what they’ve started over the past two seasons, and on both occasions they made it to the quarterfinals.
Middlesex, meanwhile, has just won their first match, the first match to have taken place at Radlett this year. Last time, both teams also met at Vitality Blast in Radlett, where the home team won nine innings (D / L method).

James Bracey is welcome back to the Gloucestershire team, which has made two test appearances in England earlier this month. He held the gate during the second XI in a T20 match against Glamorgan on Tuesday, while Glenn Phillips bowled three laps. If Dan Worrall were involved, Phillips could replace Graeme van Buuren as the second puck behind Tom Smith.
Ryan Higgins will also return to the team with a broken toe in the season opener against Glamorgan. He took two gates and made 22 out of Cardiff, and he gives Jack Taylor extra firepower in the middle row and an experienced death bowl.
Gloucestershire’s 14-man team for tomorrow’s match:
Middlesex took an unlikely win against Hampshire yesterday after getting the first win of the campaign. After granting 215 runs, Seaxes looked dead and was buried 30/3 on the fourth side with both Stirling and Morgan back in the clubhouse. However, the 122-round partnership between Joe Cracknell and John Simpson brought the hem back into contact before Australian Chris Green got them over the line with 26 two strokes.
Green has taken the most gates for Middlesex in his first three games with seven averaging 16. His numbers rose thanks to five ferries in Canterbury that included a hat trick.
Steven Finn is Stuart Law’s primary seam winding option. Middlesex’s leading gate receiver in 2020 has spent five gates so far in Blast. He took 3/18 the last time Gloucestershire played in Radlett.
There’s only one change in the bowling classes, and a senior statesman, Tim Murtagh, who has recovered from an elbow injury that has recently kept him on the sidelines, has been added to the ranks.
