Nigeria’s national U-21 champion Taiwo Mati is listed as one of the winners of the 2021 With The Future In Mind Award from the International Table Tennis Federation.
Mati was among 13 players in the world’s most notable youth player category.
The African cadet champion is one of two African players listed alongside Egyptian Hana Good, who is the world’s number one U-15 player (girl).
According to the ITTF statement, WIFM has been a core component of the athlete development model from the outset and has focused prospects from around the world in pursuit of its Olympic dream.
Following the adoption of the new ITTF Strategic Plan in 2018, support was extended to a number of established market athletes with the goal of further globalizing competitiveness in our sport, an approach that is reflected and continues in the athletes supported this year, the ITTF noted.

The grant, according to ITTF High Performance Elite Coach Massimo Costantini, is intended as an additional source for their current design, e.g. With the commitments of national teams and clubs, so they (athletes) can use the grant to strengthen general preparation by participating in special training camps and competitions.
With the postponed Tokyo 2020 Olympics around the corner, the WFIM grant is a joint program of Olympic Solidarity and ITTF, while support has also been extended to some Tokyo 2020 qualified athletes with a special focus on Olympic Solidarity and complemented by high ITTF performance and development.
