Lexie Flores had to wait a few extra months before her debut in the King Girls tennis tournament.

It didn’t take long for Flores to prove he was among the best single players in Southern California.

Flores had a sensational freshman campaign that set a 40-1 record in team competitions and helped the wolves get into the 1st division of the CIF South Division. Flores redeemed the title of the Big VIII League doubles and reached the semifinals in his first appearance in a single tournament in the southern section.

For these reasons, Flores has been selected as the inland girls tennis player of the year.

King coach Becky Gagnon had been impressed with Flores ’serenity throughout the season.

“He’s focused and dedicated,” Gagnon said. “He knows what he wants and isn’t going to let anything stay in his way. His mental strength matches the game, and he knows how to keep his emotions in check. ”
