Germantown high-level football coach Gene Robinson hosts 8 annual football clubs for all ages to allow them to train with NFL players.
MEMPHIS, Tenn The requirements to attend the annual Make the Right Call football camp are simple.
Dream big, start small, said camp founder Gene Robinson.
As Germantown’s high-level coach and former UNC referee, Robinson started the camp in 2013 and attracted about 150 children.
LA charger NFL star Donte Vaughn was one of them.
When I was growing up, I didn’t have a solid picture that I could see someone in the NFL, Vaughn said.
In other words, until his mother registered him for camp 8 years ago.
This camp teaches you a culture that no other camp can, because it tells you, man, just keep going, said Donte.
He said it was because he continued to see his mother watching him host the camp this year, attracting more than 500 children.
The whole feeling of being able to give back and smile on children’s faces is inexplicable, Vaughn said.
Similarly, the Fifth Annual Event of the camps attracted Kody Jones.
I can look at them and see myself because I was there at the same time, Jones said.
Now Kody is committed to playing in Michigan.
He said what he got from the camp went beyond what he could do on the field.
Coaches for sure, dads and everyone need a dad in their lives and many people don’t have one. These coaches will teach you lessons, life lessons, Kody added.
According to Donte Vaughn, the biggest lesson at camp is to keep pushing and never stop no matter what life throws at you.
