ISLAMABAD: As the Korangi cricket field, which is being developed by the Capital Development Authority (CDA), is nearing completion, Prime Minister Imran Khan visited the site on Saturday and announced plans to establish at least one sports field for all federal councils in the country.
The Korang Cricket Ground, being developed at the UC Bani Gala, is the first organized cricket facility established in the countryside of the federal capital. We are confident that the land will be completed by July 15 as there will be no significant construction work involved, said a senior CDA official.
CDA and ICT administration officials involved in leveling the ground and bringing things together have appealed to locals that it would be their responsibility to maintain the place in the long run.
The construction costs of the Korang cricket ground were low because it will be built on CDA land while the leveling of the land and other infrastructure development will be carried out with the help of machinery and labor belonging to the various departments of CDA.
The radius of the country is 215 feet, which is the average for a cricket field throughout Islamabad, while experienced Islamabad gardeners have already planted grass signs.
This occasional rainfall in the city is helpful in getting grass to reach the roots after planting, and as the monsoon season approaches, we expect the grass to bloom by mid-July, a CDA official involved in cricket field development said.
