Val Littlefield appointed to SEC SEC Executive Committee

Jere Morehead, president of the University of Georgia, will begin a two-year term as chairman of the SEC’s executive committee beginning July 1, the Southeastern Conference announced Tuesday. Morehead will take over the presidency after a two-year vice presidency.

Dr. Kent Fuchs, president of the University of Florida, will begin the two-year term as vice chairman of the committee, while Ron Rychlak, a faculty member at the University of Mississippi, will continue as secretary.

The committee will be joined by Dr. Stuart Bell, president of the University of Alabama, who will become vice chairman in 2023. Continuing members of the committee include Dr. Candice Storey Lee, vice chancellor and director of athletics at Vanderbilt University; Sarah Reesman, senior vice president of the University of Missouri, general operator, and Dr. Val Littlefield, a faculty member at the University of South Carolina.

The SEC Executive Committee consists of three conference officials and four persons elected at the regular annual conference meeting. The elected members consist of the CEO, the Director of Athletics, the Senior Women’s Administration and a representative of the Faculty of Athletics.

The primary responsibility of the SEC Executive Committee is to approve the annual operating budget of the Conference and to oversee all economic and fiscal matters of the Conference under the authority of the Commissioner.
