Five women’s golfers deserve All-American Scholar Team honors

Coral Springs, Fla. For the second year in a row, San Jose’s female golfers, school records, have been named the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar for the 2020-21 season.

Antonia Malate received the honor for the third consecutive year while Kajsa Arwefjäll and Jadan Gonzalez are double recipients. Louisa Carlbom and Jordyn Parr earned their first values. These five are honored from last year, when four Spartans received distintion (Malate, Arwefjäll, Gonzalez and Natasha Andrea Oon).

Five student-athletes formed the Spartan lineup for eight tournaments played during the spring of 2021. Arwefjäll had an honorable mention of winning the WGCA All-America award, while he and Malate were the first team selections for the All-Mountain West teams. Gonzalez, Carlbom and Parr all had at least one of the top 25 during the season.

They are four of the 1432 female college golfers recognized with this honor. Student-athletes must be selected for the All-American Scholar team and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50.

Founded in 1983, the Women’s Golf Coaches Association is a non-profit organization that represents women’s college golf coaches. The WGCA was established to encourage women to play golf for women who are connected to the overall educational goal and in accordance with the highest traditions of inter-university competition. Today, the WGCA represents more than 650 coaches throughout the United States and is dedicated to training, promoting, and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
