A prominent agent representing NBA coaches and executives has filed a civil lawsuit against Toronto Raptors coach Nick Nurse for breach of contract and sought financial relief.
Warren LeGarie – representing several NBA head coaches, assistant coaches and heads of delegations – said in his claim that the accused nurse did not do certain things required by the agency agreement.
The defendant nurse did not, inter alia, comply with the terms of the agency contract, pay the applicants the sums payable under the agency contract or inform the applicants of the amount of her contract of employment with the Toronto Raptors. NBA seasons 2020–2021–2023–2024, which prevents plaintiffs from paying fees for employment contracts for nurses who are defendants in NBA seasons 2020–2021–2023–2024.
The nurse is now represented by Andy Miller, who joined Rich Pauls Klutch Sports Group as head of the agency’s coaching department. Miller will also represent Portland’s new coach Chauncey Billups. Klutch Sports’ lawyer could not be made to comment.
In September, the Raptors announced that they would be able to extend the contract with Nurse. The lawsuit alleges that nurses ’salaries for 2020-21 were changed to the $ 6-8 million range and the four-year extension was worth $ 32 million, making him one of the league’s highest paid coaches.
LeGarie is seeking a reward for the part of the contract he says he is negotiating.
LeGaries attorney Hunter Pyle said in a statement that Warren LeGarie has successfully represented several NBA head coaches and executives for more than two decades. He represented Nick Nurse for more than seven years and successfully negotiated for him several contracts with the same ombudsman. Mr. LeGarie used his considerable experience and relationships in the NBA to help advance his career as a Nurse Nurse as he progressed from assistant Toronto Raptors to head coach. In a complaint filed in the Northern District of California District Court, LeGarie alleges that he and his business, LeGarie Management, Inc., made an oral agreement to represent a nurse in contract negotiations with NBA teams in about 2013. LeGaries complained that he offered to represent a nurse and 4% of the commissioner for assistant coach contracts.
The nurse paid the bills on her contracts for the 2015-16 season for the 2018-19 season, according to a complaint, and soon after the Raptors won the NBA championship, LeGarie began a four-year extension and negotiations for the 2020-21 season for the 2020-21 season. In the spring of 2020, LeGarie says that after nine months of work in contract negotiations, the defendant nurse broke her representative with the plaintiffs and urged the plaintiffs not to resume other negotiations in which defendant NURSE worked with the Toronto Raptors.
