Zach LaVine says, “Of course I want to be with the Bulls,” about a possible sequel in Chicago

The Chicago Bulls are in a bit uncertain about Zach LaVine’s next deal. For the first time, the All-Star is only one year away from the vacant office, and if the bulls want to keep him, they have to pay. Basically, he has three possible ways to re-sign in Chicago, and each is a minefield.

• The Bulls could offer a veteran extension typical of LaVine this offseason. However, if they don’t sign LaVine now, they could lose him in vain when he becomes a free agent.

Bulls find this problem. They may be paying for LaVine right now, but that would stop them from building a winning team around them. They may try to put that winning team around, but if they fail, they may not be able to keep him at all. There is no easy solution here, and one wrong step would endanger most players in this situation.

Fortunately for the Bulls, LaVine seems to be somewhat flexible when it comes to his next contract.
