Appointment of Olympian Hardeep as Vice President of Hockey Punjab: The Tribune India

The sports parade here has welcomed the appointment of Olympic Hardeep Singh Grewal from Ludhiana as Vice President of Hockey Punjab. Representatives and officials from various sports clubs and clubs welcomed the decision, in addition to sports fans and organizers, and hoped that hockey would reach new heights under the control of experienced players such as Hardeep Singh.

Hardeep was a member of the national hockey team in the mid-1983-1990. He represented the country at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. In addition, Hardeep played in the 1986 Asian Games and participated in two World Cups (1986, London and 1990, Lahore).

He also participated in three versions of the Champions Trophy (1983, 1985 and 1986) in addition to other prestigious tournaments. He was the chief architect of the Indian title victory at the 1986 Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Cup in Malaysia.

Hardeep was a member of the All Asian Stars hockey team and also played for a long time on Indian Airlines and Namdhari XI. In addition, he is attached as an administrator to the Namdhar Hockey Academy and the Mata Sahib Kauri Hockey Academy in Jarkhar.

Speaking to the Tribune, the Olympian said he owes his success to coach Balkrishan Grewal and Daronacharya award winner Baldev Singh.

Satguru Thakur Udey Singh, leader of the Namdhari sect, along with senior hockey coach Baldev Singh, Teja Singh Dhaliwal, general secretary of the Punjab Basketball Association, Amrik Singh Minhas, president of the Ludhiana Sports Club Association, Jagroop Singh Jarkhar, Hark, chief organizer The chairman of Kaur Sports Welfare Trust, coaches Harminder Pal Singh and Gursatinder Singh Pargat, Iqbal Singh Sandhu and Surinder Singh Bapa, Surjit Hockey Academy, Jalandhar, congratulated Hardeep Singh on his appointment.

With experienced players like Olympics Pargat Singh (as General Secretary), Hardeep Singh Grewal (as Vice President) and Rajinder Singh Jr. (as Head Coach) at the helm of hockey issues, so the game was meant to revive and regain lost glory in the days to come, Baldev Singh and Teja Dhaliw said.
