Kent’s charity cricket event abandoned after an ugly brawl

A video of the moment the players started attacking each other on the field has appeared on social media, some waving bats while others throwing punches.

A charity tournament was held to raise funds Share for treatment, an organization that helps those in need of medical assistance in Pakistan.

As reported Wisden, police and paramedics were called to the scene, where four people were treated for injuries, one of which was transported to a nearby hospital.

A Kent police spokesman said: “We were called on Sunday at around 6.50pm in the event of a disturbance on a sports field on Willow Way, Maidstone.

“Officials attended the scene and spoke to those present.

“No arrests have been made at this stage and investigations into the case are ongoing.”

One of the event organizers said KentOnline: “We tried our best for charity, and these crazy people just ruined it. At the end of the day, we had our last match, and that was the last couple of passes when some guys came on the field and attacked a few players.

“I don’t know what was the reason for it, but there were some distractions in the country. They started fighting bats and hitting people.

“I was far from it, but when I got close, they fought and swore to each other.

“We’re not happy – we don’t tolerate this behavior.

“I then told them that what they had done was a disgrace. There should be strict action against the players involved.

“We won’t let these people come to the country in the future – we know their faces, and we can never take that risk again.”

Tim Hance, president of the Gravesend cricket club, claimed his club’s players were unfairly targeted at the event and demanded that those in charge compete in the county.

“It’s shocked the whole club and people outside the club from other teams,” he said.

“I am shocked at how this could have happened.

“We ask all parties to make sure this is not brushed under the rug.”

The Mote Cricket Club, which hosted the event, issued a statement on Monday that stood out from the event.

“We do not control and are not responsible to anyone who rents our land commercially,” it was said.

“We do not tolerate these events, and we are sad and disappointed with the organizers and attendees.”
