Google offers Assistant Home Mini users a “special discount”

Despite being nearly four years old and having a successor, the Google Home Mini is still on sale. One measure to get rid of it is a “Google Assistant special discount” where you can get a Home Mini for $ 9.99.

As the name implies, this “Special Discount” is actually delivered through the Google Assistant on Android. Upon activation, a tab appears above the bottom sheet:

It is meant to be a “thank you for using the Google Assistant”. This “special discount” costs $ 39.01 off the Home Mini on the Google Store. Ironically, the advertised “Coral” color is out of stock, with Chalk, Charcoal and Aqua available.

This deal has been around for some time, but more than a few people are meeting it after opening Assistant. Google is allegedly checking if you already have Smart Displays / Speakers associated with your account. There’s some excitement about this deal, but it’s a shame Google isn’t offering the Nest Mini at that price. Meanwhile, others don’t appreciate the ad-like nature with this offer more than deliverable by email.

The affordable 2019 latest generation Assistant speaker offers 2x more bass, a third microphone and a machine learning chip that allows you to process frequent commands locally for faster responses. That said, do away with the micro-USB port for a barrel connector.
