Epic Games Inc. has a new residence in the online app store.
Microsoft Corp. MSFT, -3.62% on Tuesday, said it will bring the creator of the popular game Fortnite and his showcase to Microsoft’s new online app store for free.
In a blog post, Microsoft said it will allow third-party store apps to be discoverable in the Microsoft Store on Windows. The showcases of Epic and Amazon.com Inc. AMZN, -2.64% highlight the additions.
The Microsoft Store launch is scheduled for October 5, with Windows 11. Windows 10 users will have access to the new store a few months later.

The move by the software giants offers a high-profile landing spot for Epic, which fought with Apple Inc. AAPL, -2.38% versus the iPhone makers’ 30% commission, a controversy that has led to a historic antitrust lawsuit against Apple that went to federal court in May.
In what many interpreted as a split decision this month, a federal judge issued an injunction that Apple can no longer force developers to use its payment system, effectively bypassing the 15% to 30% fees. %. However, the iPhone maker has not been declared an antitrust monopolist.
Epic, which is appealing the judges’ ruling, declined to comment beyond Microsoft’s statement.
Apple did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment.
