Not yet hooked on Wordle? Here’s what you’re missing

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – If you’ve been on Facebook or Twitter for the past two weeks, you’ve seen posts with green boxes and letters.

This is Wordle. It is not an app, but a game played only on an Internet browser.

And it’s the hottest game around.

It is a fairly simple game of blocks and letters. Your goal is to guess the Wordle of the day. Enter the guesses using the online keyboard, you are looking for yellow and green revelations.

A yellow letter means it is in the word but in the wrong place. Green shows that the correct letter is in the right place. Keep guessing, using those revelations, inventing new words until you solve the daily puzzle.

You have six possibilities. There is no clock, so take your time.

Friends share their achievements, at least the ones they are proud of, on Facebook. About 40 wordle results are posted on Twitter every minute. Wordle prevents anyone from ruining the puzzle for everyone else. That’s why you only see the board with the green and yellow squares.

In case you see a Wordle app somewhere, it’s copycat and probably loaded with adware.

Apple kicked out dozens of fake Wordle puzzle games from the App Store.

Even if it’s not an app, you can create one. IPhone users, go to the Wordle home page in Safari and click the Share button. On an Android device, you can do the same in the Google browser, then you can add to the home screen. Wordle actually becomes an app, even if it will simply open in your web browser.

Online play is free, and a new puzzle is released every day at midnight. And that’s what makes Wordle so great. You can stay hooked, but you can’t play more than once per day.
