Union State Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Skills Development and Entrepreneurship Rajeev Chandrasekhar said the Center would soon launch a Digital India Innovation Fund which would support tech start-ups in the country.
The minister made the remarks while addressing more than 1,000 undergraduate students under the New India for Young India: Techade of Opportunities program at the Catholic Bishop House Campus, Thamarassery, here on Friday.
He said India had been a dysfunctional democracy where opportunities for growth were limited. We had accepted this dysfunctionality as a fact and we had seen it as the cost of democracy.
Responding to a question on issues such as job opportunities in the country and migration from Kerala, the Minister added that migration is a consequence of lack of hope. But India is currently going through a tipping point. The next decade will be the Techade of India. There are huge opportunities for Indian youth. You will not get this kind of opportunity anywhere outside India. We should always trust that this is our land, he said.
Mr. Chandrasekhar also attended the Malabar Yuvajana Sangamam at Alphonsa English Higher Secondary School, Koranghad which was attended by over 5,000 members of Kerala Catholic Youth Movement (KCYM).
Speaking on the occasion, he said, the central government pledged to work with all communities for India’s future. Every Indian must have an equal opportunity to thrive regardless of community, caste, location or religion, he said, adding that the G20 presidency and Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence President for 2022-23 are milestones that show the new face of India.
Referring to the contribution of the Christian community, the minister said that the community has contributed enormously to the growth and development of Kerala. They are important stakeholders of Indian Amritkaal, the journey to a developed nation by 2047.
Mr. Chandrasekhar had lunch with Bishop Mar Remigiose Inchananiyil of Thamrassery Diocese and Bishop Varghese Chakkalakal of Calicut Diocese and other KCYM members. The Minister thanked Sister Celesti of the Missionary Sisters of Mary Immaculate and her team for hosting the Minister’s lunch at the Bishop’s House.
