I believe there will be positive benefits from this technology and it would be a mistake for governments to ban generative AI completely.
ALEC Communications and Technology Task Force Director Jake Morabito was recently featured on the Mike Hayes Show on WIZM Radio in LaCrosse, WI speaking about the need for states to move cautiously in regulating ChatGPT and other intelligence artificial generative (AI).
The winners of this new AI innovation will be those who enable their employees, business people and consumers to help their existing work, not replace it outright. Done correctly, ChatGPT and other generative AIs could allow us to be more productive in our work and free up some of the more menial tasks and allow us to perform other high-value skills in our work, allowing us to serve customers in better ways.
While there is a risk that bad actors will use this new technology in unscrupulous ways, such as creating cybersecurity risks, that doesn’t mean we should regulate it wholesale.
I believe there will be positive benefits of this technology in education and it would be a mistake for governments to ban generative AI completely. Let’s face it, our children will grow up in a world where this technology exists.
