Join us for the Utah Tech Speed Elite Camp hosted on the Utah Tech University campus featuring USA100m Olympic gold medalist Justin Gatlin along with coach Atkins and Rodney Green. They will provide world-class coaching on topics including training, running technique, speed development, obstacle technique, plyometrics, goal setting, nutrition, and so much more!
Time: Friday, July 14, 4:00pm – 7:00pm / Saturday, July 15, 9:00am – 12:00pm Venue: Greater Zion Stadium (501 S 700 E #551, St. George, UT 84770) Attendees: All genders and between the ages of 10 and 18; junior college athletes are accepted but not 4-4 transfers or current Utah Tech students.
HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:
Camp shirt, bag and an autograph card from the coaching staff. Event specific training (sprint, hurdles). Education in the latest training techniques and sports science. Goal setting and post-camp training. MEALS: Dinner will be served on Friday and breakfast on Saturday. If you have dietary restrictions, please bring your own food and a snack.

Extra sports clothing 1-2 pairs of running shoes/broken nails or cleats Non-running shoes Water bottle Sunscreen Packed lunch and snacks Small gym bag/backpack TRANSPORTATION:Transportation is not provided; campers are responsible for getting to and from the camp on their own. There is no supervision before or after camp hours, so make arrangements to pick up your child on time.
MEDICAL PROTOCOL: Most camps have an on-site athletic trainer to help in the event of illness or injury. In the event of an emergency, campers will be transported to the nearest hospital.
COMPANY POLICIES: Please note that Utah tech University’s cancellation policy states that for any cancellation prior to 14 days of the camp start date, a refund will be issued to your payment method on file, less the $500 cancellation fee 150. For any cancellation within the 14 day period prior to the camp start date, no refund or credit voucher will be issued. Credit vouchers are not redeemable in any Utah Tech University field.

Derrick Atkins:
Coach Atkins is entering her fourth season as Utah Tech’s Head Women’s Track and Field Coach. He was officially announced as the program’s new head coach on November 12, 2020. During his illustrious athletic career, Atkins was a semifinalist in the 100m at the Summer Olympics in Beijing (2008) and London (2012) for his home country of The Bahamas. He also competed in three World Championships in Athletics, one of which he won a silver medal in the 100m after setting the current Bahamian national record time of 9.91.
In 2016, Atkins was inducted into the Dickinson State University (ND) Athletic Hall of Fame and was a 2013 NAIA Hall of Fame inductee in the athlete category. Lui excelled in indoor and outdoor track and field for four years at Dickinson State, where he still holds several indoor and outdoor conference sprinting records and helped lead the Blue Hawks to four Dakota Athletic Conference championships. Atkins is a seven-time NAIA National Champion, winning titles in the 55m, 100m and 200m in 2003, 2004 and 2005. In addition, he is a 15-time All-American. Atkins led Dickinson State to back-to-back NAIA outdoor national championships in 2004 and 2005, and runners-up finish in 2003.
Justin Gatlin: Coach Gatlin is a sprinter from Brooklyn, New York. As a professional sprinter, he has had the privilege of representing the United States on numerous occasions, having competed in multiple Olympic Games, including the 2004 Athens Olympics, where he won a gold medal in the 100m. Throughout his career, he has faced both triumphs and challenges, but believes in the power of resilience and perseverance, having worked hard to overcome setbacks and prove that determination and passion can lead to incredible results. Off the track, he is deeply involved in giving back to the community and is committed to inspiring young athletes, mentoring future sprinters, and promoting a healthy, active lifestyle.

Rodney Green: Rodney is a former professional track and field athlete for the Bahamas who trained several teams on the international stage. Rodney’s professional track and field coaching career was under elite coaching Brooks Johnson 2017-2021 and he has assisted coach numerous world class Olympic athletes including Justin Gatlin, Francena McCorory and Lashawn Merritt . Rodney now coaches his professional track and field group under the name Prime Royalty Sports and develops Paralympians, high school juniors and others in speed and agility for the sport.
