Apple is working on a new version of the iPad Pro with wireless charging. Bloomberg’s New Report To support this technology, Apple is rumored to change the back of new glass models instead of aluminum on the back of all iPads released so far.
Apple is said to be testing a magnetic charging system for the new iPad Pro, similar to the MagSafe connector introduced in last year’s iPhone 12 series. According to reports, Apple may also incorporate reverse wireless charging into the new iPad Pro, which will allow the iPad itself to act as a wireless charging point.
Apple just released the new iPad Pro M1 with a Mini LED display, and the wireless charging model is reportedly not ready until next year. However, Bloomberg also says Apple will release a redesigned iPad Mini in 2021 with a narrower screen bezel, switching to Face ID like the iPad Pro or a power button like the iPad Air. It is unclear whether it will switch to Touch ID, but Bloomberg reports that “the removal of the home button has also been tested.”
Apple is rumored to be planning to release a slimmer version of the 10.2-inch iPad alongside the new iPad Mini. Both products will be released later this year.
