It’s pretty hard to keep tabs on the last-gen games that are planning to update for your fancy modern consoles, which is why I tattoo every morsel of information on my face. Looking in the mirror first this morning, I noticed that it is today when the main free update of Metro Exoduss arrives.
In fact, the Xbox version seemed to accidentally come out a day early yesterday, and it’s already reporting that it’s not doing so well on the S Series. The PS5 gets its version today, when it should have. Oi Xbox, no pushing.
The update was first announced in February and was perhaps the most complete (or at least detailed) current generation remaster so far. The title is the addition of raytracing to both console and PC versions. The PC picked up its release in early May, but then 4A developers have always been a first type of PC group, and obviously had no certification issues to overcome before launching it there.
For reasons known only to ancient hags atop wild mountains, the S / X Series version of Metro Exodus will allow you to transfer your saves from the Xbone edition, but the PS5 won’t. Instead 4A has added chapter breaks to the game in both versions, allowing you to enter the game anytime you want from the start, with the hefty penalty that any equipment you have previously collected will no longer be with you and disable objectives. For Xbox players, old saves will work and your gear will move, but you’ll still be limited to loading into one of those chapter breaks. The developers suggest playing one of those from the previous version before making the leap.
This is all free for anyone who owns one of the game versions and comes with all the qualities described below:

This may be the first time I regret taking the S Series instead of the X.
