By 2025, China wants to build a formidable domestic manufacturing base. If you’ve been following the latest news, you know that six of its national ministries have announced plans to develop 10,000 small niche giants and 1,000 market leaders. National officials hope these plans will help fill gaps in the national supply chain and help the country compete with Japan, the United States and Germany. Tian Yun, the deputy director of the Beijing Economic Operation Association, said: The heated technology war between China and the United States has exposed the risks of the lack of hidden champions.
One such rising company is Bronze Technologies, a Chinese manufacturer that creates high-quality power electronics for renewable energy, smart grids, electric vehicles, and railways.
How did Bronze technologies develop?
In 2009, the Cambridge and Tsinghua University PhD teams sought funding from well-known venture capital funds and angel investors. By 2011, the company had launched its line of insulated gate bipolar transistor IGBT driver products that help manage high voltage and high current applications such as automobiles, industrial air conditioners and motors. In 2013, Bronze was selected as one of China’s domestic high-tech companies; in 2015, its IGBT driver shipments exceeded 100,000 pieces; and today, the company aims to lead China in power electronics technology.
What has he achieved?
In addition to building a world-class research team for IGBT driver chips, Bronze manufactures current sensors and components for power electronics. It launched a multiparallel driving solution with Infineon, helped reduce the energy management difficulty of microgrids, and received numerous awards from the Chinese government: Top 100 companies with the highest potential in the Shenzhen high-tech park in China all ‘abroad; Leading Entrepreneurs in Guangdong Province; Deloittes China Top 50 high-growth technology companies … the list goes on.
How will it contribute to advanced manufacturing?
As part of the new push for Chinese manufacturing innovation, Bronze Technologies will open a third-generation industrial semiconductor base in Guangdong. No one should be surprised that semiconductor technology is a national priority with COVID coupling and a shortage of container ships, China, along with the rest of the world, has decided to step up. In 2021, China will invest 350 million yuan ($ 54.17 million) in the project.
As the Chinese government continues to invest in emerging technology, energy companies will be a key part of its long-term strategy. China has amassed rich experience developing industry titans like Huawei in the past, Tian said. Now, as governments and citizens begin sourcing energy from renewable resources, driving electric cars, and using cooling systems to cope with global warming, it’s time to continue that long-standing tradition with Bronze.
