Idukki: An allegation of corruption has been brought against the Chinnakanal Service Cooperative Bank by members of the CPI of the bank’s governing body. The bank is currently run by the LDF. Several allegations were made against the bank, including problems with being granted a bank loan for forged title deeds. CPI members have asked the bank secretary to respond to the allegations.

The CPI also raised doubts about the daily operations of the bank and the number of employees and their salaries. The bank operates a complex in Chinnakanal called Mount View. The members of the board of directors themselves asked the secretary nine questions about the day-to-day operation of the station, the income it generates, the cost of its construction and the purchase expenses.

There was also a plan to run a gas pump on behalf of the bank. Members also reported some issues with this location. The district collector discovered that the land was unusable for industrial purposes and denied the request. Therefore, CPI members also requested to provide details of the amount spent on the gas pump, if any irregularities occurred in this regard.

Members submitted a letter to the secretary in this regard 10 months ago. They also demanded that questions be answered immediately. But the secretary has yet to respond to that.

Some allegations were made against the secretary. He built an industrial establishment in Chinnakanal. CPI members have expressed doubts about its financial source. Some public figures have also made similar allegations. The members of the bank’s board are also considering filing a complaint requesting a vigilance investigation against it.

The CPI claimed that despite repeated requests, information on the day-to-day operations of the bank was not even provided to the bank’s board of directors, which led to a public statement on the matter.
