Critics slam Allister Adels’ disrespectful request to ABC15

PHOENIX As community groups mount a recall effort, Maricopa County District Attorney Allister Adel faces even more criticism following an interview with ABC15 last week about his office’s role in the wrongly accusation of dozens of police protesters.

At the end of the short interview, Adel asked ABC15 investigator Dave Biscobing if he would be willing to work with the MCAO to teach people how to protest peacefully.

Critics were shocked at the request.

That says a lot about who she is. That says a lot about who she is as an elected official, said Bruce Franks Jr., an activist who was arrested and charged by police and prosecutors last year. And he’s a real politician: deviation, contempt, lack of respect. This is exactly what it is.

Adel’s request to ABC15 came after Biscobing asked why MCAO was limiting the interview to 10 minutes.

The Maricopa County District Attorney’s Office has colluded with Phoenix PD to invent a gang to indict the protesters. @ ABC15 exposed the corruption in February. MCAO ordered an outside investigation.

Finally, today I had a 10 minute interview.

The Arizona Republic also published an op-ed on the county prosecutor’s comments on Monday.

The Headline: Is Maricopa County District Attorney Allister Adel Distraught, Deaf, or Think We Are Fools?

The chronicler wrote his probable all of the above.

Adel apparently still believes she has the moral authority to teach residents how to protest peacefully because it’s not them or her prosecutors who are the real problem here, according to the editorial.

The ABC15s Politically Charged investigation revealed how the MCAO and Phoenix Police came together to invent a fictitious gang and claim the protesters were members of it.

Adel declined repeated interviews with ABC15 throughout the year, citing an ongoing outside investigation she ordered in response to the reports.

During last week’s interview, she declined to answer factual questions as protesters filed a complaint against her office.

Adels’ responses during the ABC15 interview and her request also bothered Julie Erfle, a communications consultant whose husband (an officer from Phoenix) died in the line of duty.

Erfle was interviewed on KJZZs Friday Newscap and said Adel and his office still don’t understand the significance of what happened.

The problem was not that people weren’t protesting peacefully. The problem was, it was a fabricated gang and fabricated charges, and they were being pursued politically. That’s the point, Erfle said. I really don’t think Allister Adel or his office took these things seriously enough or that they were held accountable for these things. Looks like they’re still trying to make excuses.
