BOISE – Following the manual recount of 8 of Bonner County’s 32 ridings, the Idaho Secretary of State’s office has completed its review of allegations questioning the accuracy of Idahos’ November 2020 election . The Findings: As expected, the election was run with integrity and precision, with the office only finding a margin of error of around 0.1% in 3 counties.
The manual review and recount of over 7,700 ballots in Bonner County, which took place on Saturday, was the third such review conducted by the office in a 2-week period, a process that was launched as a result of citizens submitting a spreadsheet and webpage published at http: //thebiglie.frankspeech.com, a website copyrighted by Michael J Lindell.
The webpage displays lists of every county in the country, sorted by state, and then claims to show how much each county has been electronically manipulated, referencing the dates, times, and IP addresses that are believed to connect to the particular attack. Secretary Lawerence Denney said I had received numerous phone calls and emails over the past month from voters wanting my office to look at Lindells data, but until recently this data had never been been available.
Once the data appeared on the website, Assistant Secretary-General Chad Houck, who was in charge of the review, said the office started sending them copies. We have always said that if you have information about voter fraud that we can look at, put it in our hands. Once that was made public, and especially given that it implied that the results for the 44 counties had been changed, we felt it was important to address it publicly, Houck said. This called into question the integrity of the secretaries’ office and the integrity of the 44 elected county clerks across Idaho, and it is something we will not take in silence.
Bonner County Clerk Michael Rosedale had the same point of view and proposed his county for the effort as it offered a unique fit for a county counting machine review with a single point of aggregation. . Every vote in Bonner County ultimately goes through a computer during the compilation process. For digital manipulation to occur, it would have had to be on this machine, Rosedale says, but the computer is not connected to the internet via LAN, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth. I know it was secure.
In the end, the vote count only showed a margin of error of 0.116%, 9 ballots in total including 8 attributed to Trump and 1 to Biden. Of those ballots, at least 7 could likely be attributed to extremely light marks that the tabulation machine was unable to pick up on election day, Houck says. If this explanation were taken into account, the margin of error would drop to about 2.5 in 10,000, or 0.025%.
Following the review in Butte County, where the results initially showed 9 fewer votes counted, county officials conducted their own review of the polls and tally logs, resulting in the discovery of a mathematical error which represented an overall difference of 10 ballots, and advised the secretariat of the discovery. Adjusted for this result, the margin of error for Butte counties fell from 0.63% to 0.07%, bringing all counties well below the 8.4% margin of error claimed by spreadsheet.
We jealously protect Idahos’ reputation for electoral integrity, and it was a shot directly aimed at each state, Houck reflects on why the office undertook the review. While our team is still on the lookout for possible vulnerabilities, this claim was clearly baseless at first glance. It takes a lot of work to build confidence in a state electoral system, and reckless accusations like this can cause enormous damage. To do nothing and say nothing would have been like conceding your truth.
No further review of this data is planned by the Bureau. Costs associated with the review were paid with federal grants earmarked for audits in 2018 by the secretary under the Help America Vote Act. It is estimated that the first exam covering Butte and Camas counties cost around $ 2,500, while the Bonner County exam is estimated at $ 4,000. The secretaries’ office offered to reimburse all expenses incurred at the county level from the same funds.
