Uber driver speeding in Vancouver accuses customers

An Uber driver in Vancouver believed he could escape a costly fine by blaming his customers.

Vancouver Police Department Traffic Unit Sgt. Mark Christensen took to Twitter on November 27 to share an image of the speed at which the Uber driver was checked in when he was pulled over. They were clocked 54 km / h over the limit and tried to blame the excessive speed on their customers.

In a comment to his original post, Christensen notes: “By law, 1 km above [the] the limit is speed. However, each agent sets their own tolerance based on road conditions, weather, location, etc.

He adds that “tolerance in school / playground and construction areas is generally lower than in other areas”, also.

While some drivers make excuses for their behavior, others ask traffic officers to change what they are doing instead.
