Jub Jub’s family calls rape allegations false, outrageous and irresponsible

JOHANNESBURG – The family of artist Molemo Maarohanye, also known as Jub Jub, have defended him and compared the recent rape and sexual assault allegations against him to a smear campaign.

His family are also demanding a retraction and an apology from Maarohanye’s former girlfriend, actress and businesswoman Amanda du Pont, as well as government spokeswoman Masechaba Khumalo after accusing him of rape.

After the popular Podcast and Chill with MacG aired on Friday, Maarohanye found himself at the center of several rape allegations after bragging about his past relationship, including one with Du Pont, in which he said he had “broken” his.

She responded, claiming that Maarohanye had actually raped her several times during their two-year relationship and even attempted to kill her.

The two women are not the only ones to have expressed themselves. Two others, Bonoluhle Nkala and Refilwe Khumalo, also made similar statements.

Maarohanye’s family are demanding that the women withdraw what they said or that they take legal action.

In a statement, Maarohanye’s family denied that he had done anything wrong and called the charges false, outrageous and irresponsible.

The family said the statements and social media reaction damaged the public figure’s reputation and violated his rights to privacy and dignity.

Meanwhile, Khumalo told Eyewitness News that she had not received any documents and would wait for justice to take its course. Du Pont could not be reached for comment.
