Newt Gingrich blamed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for the Capitol riot, saying it was his responsibility to keep the Capitol safe on January 6, 2021.

Gingrich made an appearance on “The Ingraham Angle” to mark the first anniversary of the uprising, in which host Laura Ingraham asked if he, a former Speaker of the House, thought he was from. Pelosi’s responsibility to secure the Capitol before the riot.

“I think she’s the person most responsible for what happened,” Gingrich told Ingraham. “It was his job to make sure there was adequate police.”

“It’s largely a dance of Democrats who don’t want us to take a very close look at what really happened,” he added.

He also criticized the committee responsible for reviewing the event – which is led by Democrats – for looking at things too politically and for not focusing on the “leaders” who provoked the event. .

“As a former president, I was deeply offended that anyone doing what they did on the Capitol grounds, but as a past president, I was also very offended that the current president, Pelosi, had so totally failed in his job, which was to make sure that didn’t happen, ”he told Ingraham.

A congressional investigation into the insurgency is still ongoing and is examining what led hundreds of former President Donald Trump’s supporters to storm Capitol Hill as Congress certified the results of the 2020 presidential election .

So far, 738 people have been charged in connection with the riot.
