Don’t blame the teachers | Storm Lake weather

Thoughts locked inside on a freezing January day: nnSenator Jake Chapman, Adel’s Republican Majority Leader, tore into teachers and reporters in his commencement address to the Iowa Senate last week.

He accused teachers of having a “sinister agenda” to “normalize deviant sexual behavior towards our children, including pedophilia and incest”.

Where does he imagine this thing?

Republican senators should be aware of deviant sexual behavior. In 2017, a Senate Republicans employee won a $2.2 million judgment against them after perverted male bosses set her and other female employees in motion while working on Capitol Hill. ‘State. But Senate Republicans did not pay the judgment. Iowa taxpayers had to foot the bill for their bad behavior.

In fact, over the past five years, Iowa taxpayers have been forced to pay millions of dollars to victims of sexual misconduct at a number of state agencies overseen by our Governor and Legislature.

Chapman also banned reporters from the Senate floor, where they covered the legislature for more than a century. It’s a reward, I guess, for reporting the pervs that work there.

Instead of peeking into the bedrooms of Iowans, perhaps our heads of state should look inside their own offices on Capitol Hill. They should stick to the reason we elected them in the first place, like fixing lousy roads like Hwy. 110 by Schaller. Or rebuild the ruined Linn Grove Dam and Bridge, or the countless other dangerous bridges across the state.

Or set up traffic controls near the new Storm Lake Elementary School. The school, which opened on January 4, was planned and built over three years, but nothing was done to secure the nearby intersection with the highway. 7 – The most dangerous place in Storm Lake to drive.

It’s not like we can’t afford it. Iowa has more than $1 billion in surplus, thanks to generous federal aid over the past year. So instead of spending the money wisely to improve our state, Governor Reynolds and her Republican allies in the legislature want to deliver a major tax cut that would primarily benefit the wealthy.

How will this work? Google “Kansas Tax Cut Experiment” to find out. Our Southwest Republican neighbors tried this in 2012 and it bankrupted the Sunflower State. Revenues plummeted, state services were cut, teachers resigned en masse, the legislature was forced to roll back tax cuts, and Governor Sam Brownback was removed from office.

But hey, blame the teachers and the journalists.
