VERA PAUW has refuted all of the allegations made against her in the recent NWSL/NWSLPA report, describing them as an insult to my personal values and behavior as a coach.
In a statement on Friday afternoon, the Republic of Ireland boss said I had spent my entire career fighting for my players and now had to fight for myself.
Pauw was named in the report released Wednesday that investigated historic allegations of mistreatment of players in the National Women’s Soccer League of the Americas, relating to her stint as head coach of Houston Dash in 2018.
The allegations against Pauw related to comments regarding the players’ weight and attempts to influence their eating habits, which she fully denied in a written statement to the Investigation Committee.
I want to refute all allegations made against me since my time at Houston Dash, she said in her first public comment since the reports were published.
Player welfare has always been of utmost importance to me throughout my career. Nutrition is a hugely important aspect of professional football and my advice to players has always been to look after their nutritional and health needs and always seek the advice of medical experts.
To suggest that I would shame any human being, footballer or not, is an insult to my personal values and my behavior as a coach and I cannot allow that statement to go unchallenged.
The FAI voiced their support for Pauw in a statement released on Thursday evening, saying the Association continues to support Vera and her team as they prepare for the upcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2023.
FAI President Roy Barrett said: If we judge Vera since she has been at the FAI she has been a fantastic ambassador, none of these behaviors make any sense and clearly she does not. would not tolerate.
Pauw also rejected the NWSL/NWSLPA report’s claim that she appeared but refused to cooperate during an interview with the joint investigation team, but she provided a written denial of what she did. suspected to be the allegations against her, including a statement that she never noticed a player’s appearance.
Pauw said that suggestion was wrong.
I accepted an invitation to join a video call, September 29, on which there were four people and me, she explained.
I asked to record the call but they said that couldn’t happen and they refused to answer any questions I had before ending the call. I then wrote a 13 page letter describing my experience of my stay in Houston and offered to contact them again, but they never responded.
Pauw is due to speak to the media at FAI headquarters in Abbotstown at 2 p.m. this afternoon.

First of all, I would like to express my disappointment with the way this survey was conducted, the way I was treated when I attempted to engage in the survey, and the lack of engagement around publication of the report and statements to the media.
The report suggests that I did not cooperate with the investigation team, which is not true. I accepted an invitation to join a video call, September 29, on which there were four people and me. I asked to record the call but they said that couldn’t happen and they refused to answer any questions I had before ending the call. I then wrote a 13 page letter describing my experience of my stay in Houston and offered to contact them again, but they never responded.

I want to thank everyone who has come out in support of me since these allegations were made public on Wednesday evening. I appreciate the FAI’s continued support as we look forward to the FIFA Women’s World Cup next summer.
I will continue to defend myself against all such claims. I spent my whole career fighting for my players and now I have to fight for myself. I am extremely frustrated to have been targeted in such a disappointing way. I cannot allow my name to be attached to such false accusations.
