In the documentary, Prince Harry accused the media coverage of Meghan of having racist overtones and that the racial element meant she should receive special treatment and be protected by the Royal Family.

The Prime Minister was asked about recent comments by Jeremy Clarkson in which he wrote that he dreamed of Meghan parading naked through British cities as excrement was thrown at her.

Sunak insisted that the UK was not a racist country, adding that language was important.

He said: I think for everyone in public life, language matters. You asked a question about racism. Now I’ve seen some of the things that were said.

I absolutely do not believe that Britain is a racist country. And I hope as our nation’s first British Asian Prime Minister, I say that carries some weight.

You know, I’m really proud of our country, its culture, its resilience, its beauty. And indeed, it is a huge privilege to stand up for Britain and, indeed, its institutions like the monarchy when I am on the world stage as I am here today.

Clarkson has since apologized for the comments he made after receiving backlash.

The former Top Gear presenter tweeted: Oh my God. I rather put my foot in it. In a column I wrote about Meghan, I made an awkward reference to a scene from Game of Thrones and it went wrong with a lot of people. I am horrified to have caused so much harm and will be more careful in the future.
