Shoppers arriving at the Nisa Extra at Brackendale Shopping Center on Stroud Avenue, Willenhall, since Monday morning have been left disappointed after the shutters remained locked.

Nearby residents reported seeing fridges being removed from the site operated by Sundorne Products (Willenhall) Ltd and placed in vehicles in the early hours of the morning.

At first there was some mystery surrounding the sudden closure, but a repossession notice was spotted attached to the doors at the back of the premises in the Short Heath area of ​​the city.

The notice from London-based agents, JP Dawkins Limited, dated January 9, states: “Under the terms and conditions of your lease, we, as agents acting on behalf of the landlord, have this day reinstated and taken over possession of such premises and the lease is hereby determined .

“Any attempt by you or your agents to enter the rented premises will result in criminal/civil action against you.

“All inquiries should be directed in the first instance to the above office of JP Dawkins Limited quoting the above reference.”

The agency also told the Express & Star that it had taken action on behalf of the center’s owners and was unable to comment further on the matter.

A resident of Stroud Avenue, who did not want to be named, said: ‘We use it a lot for essentials like bread and milk. suddenly shut down without any warning.

“It was a bit of a surprise not to open it as usual on Monday.

“There have been concerns about the levels of rent charged to businesses.”

Convenience store chain Nisa, which is headquartered in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, has been approached for comment. The premises were known as Spar for several years before switching to the Nisa brand.

The 51-year-old mall has seen a resurgence in fortune over the past two years, with most of the nine units being leased to corporate tenants.
