White House attacks GOP critics over Biden’s handling of classified documents

The Biden White House is going after Republicans who rip President Biden over his handling of classified Obama administration documents.

White House spokesman Ian Sams said House Republicans had no credibility in their criticism of Mr Biden.

In a statement to reporters he shared on Twitter, Sams called on House Republicans to answer questions about the politicization of the case.

As President Biden has repeatedly said, he takes classified information seriously, which is why he immediately ordered his team to ensure the documents are returned to the government, Mr. Sams said in the communicated. President Biden is doing the right thing and fully cooperating with a thorough review, but House Republicans are playing politics in a brazen and hypocritical attempt to attack President Biden.

Republicans have questioned the circumstances surrounding the discovery and disclosure of the documents.

Representative James Comer, a Republican of Kentucky and chairman of the House Oversight Committee, said Sunday he wondered why the release of the classified documents came after last year’s midterm elections and after the Outrage had spread to former President Donald Trump over the handling of sensitive documents.

The administration has not been transparent about what is happening with President Bidens’ possession of classified documents, Comer said on CNN’s State of the Union on Sunday. We just want equal treatment here in terms of how former President Trump and current President Biden are treated with the issue of documents.

Attorney General Merrick Garland selected Robert Hur as special counsel last week to investigate the discovery of classified documents in the possession of Mr. Bidens.

The White House said on Saturday that Mr. Bidens’ aides found five more pages of classified documents at his Delaware residence.

Federal law prohibits the retention of classified documents outside of secure locations, and Mr. Hurs’ investigation will examine whether anyone or a group violated the law.
