Residents of Cohasset try to absorb Walshe’s allegations

It’s a beach town, a colonial town — a suburban town. But more than anything else, Cohasset is a small town.

It’s like Mulberry Street, a Boston resident told 25 News. Nothing like that ever happens here.

The final chapter of what happened here took place in what seemed like another universe. In Quincy District Court, Brian Walshe, 47, was arraigned for the murder of his wife, Ana. She’s been missing since the start of the year – and it’s a case that has drawn national attention.

Just a tragic coincidence, said another resident. How it all happened and some of the evidence. We just heard today all the different posts on social media and what he searched and googled is just chilling.

What Walshe is accused of researching, according to prosecutors, is research regarding the dismemberment and disposal of bodies.

This town has obviously been very safe for many years, said Cassidy Joslin, a resident. It proves that anything can happen in any small town.

Cohasset is not just any small town. It’s 10 square miles of wealth and ancient structures, wrapped around a quaint yet vibrant downtown.

It’s a very small community, a tight-knit community, said longtime resident Devon Noonan. I didn’t know either of them personally, but I have three young children myself – two young boys around the same age as their boys – so it’s very sad and I just hope the family will close.

Noonan said things were already underway to help the three Walshe children, aged two to six, who are motherless and, at the moment, fatherless.

This community is amazing – how strong we can be when we come together, she said.

One thing that seems certain, both crimes and murder are rare in Cohasset, this one will be difficult for the community to shake.

It’s going to be, I’m sure, a long time for everyone to put this on the back burner, a resident said. Because it’s front and center for everyone right now.
